and actress Madonna is also known by the nicknames Nonnie, Maddy, Mo, The Material
Girl, Madge, Esther and M. Madonna started releasing records in 1982 and has
since become one of the best-selling solo female artists and one of the highest
grossing music tour stars. While her success in the music business has been
remarkable, her acting career has been less successful with little box office
success, with the possible exception of the minor hit Desperately Seeking Susan
in 1985 where she starred alongside Rosanna Arquette and the 1996 role of Eva
Peron in the movie Evita. Madonna has also been a model at times in her career
and nude pictures of her from her time as a struggling dancer surfaced years
later and were published in Penthouse magazine. More nude modelling shots followed
in Madonna's best selling coffee table book entitled Sex.
